2018 MonManCamp Video Scholarship Competition Rules

 

  • FIDDLE Video Competition​ (generously underwritten by The Violin Shop, Nashville, TN): Video Submission between April 1-April 15.   • MANDOLIN Video Competition​: Video Submission between March 1-March 15. Winner announced March 25, 2018.  Our esteemed panel of judges include mandolin masters David Davis (2019, 2016, 2015, 2014), Dr. Richard Brown (2019, 2016), John Keith (2018, 2014), and Mike Compton-the camp director.  This competition was generously funded during the Facebook #GivingTuesday fundraiser, November 2017.  Our congratulations are extended to Hannah Johnson from Foster City, MI.  Here is her winning submission “Get Up John” https://youtu.be/d7tWeyJJdsU
  • BANJO Video Competition​ (generously underwritten by Hawthorn Banjos): Video Submission between February 1-February 28. Winner Announced March 7, 2018. Our esteemed panel of judges include banjo icons Alan Munde (2018), Mr. Alan O’Bryant (2017, 2016), and Bill Evans (2019 staff).  Congratulations to Jordan Riehm from Bowling Green, Kentucky with the winning tune “Old Dangerfield” https://youtu.be/K8CTy3fsErI
  • Music submitted must be a Bill Monroe tune or instrumental.
  • Submissions open to candidates of any age.
  • Participants to write a 500 word essay on their musical pursuits, why they are interested in Monroe’s prolific music and attending camp.
  • Video must remain under 4 minutes.
  • Announce your name and song title on the video. You may play solo or with accompaniment.
  • A maximum of 25 submissions accepted (you will receive an email with confirmation if your video is accepted.)
  • Upload video to YouTube, and email the link to: ​monroemandolincamp@gmail.com​. In subject line of email, please write “Video Scholarship Competition.”
  • Winner of each Video Scholarship Competition to be awarded a full tuition scholarship including camp T-shirt. (A $516.50 value)
  • Transportation, meals and lodging are separate and not included in the award, and the responsibility of the winner.
