After studying music and playing guitar for years, Will Kimble rediscovered bluegrass music in his late twenties and began playing a mandolin his father Fred had built. A move to North Carolina where his dad had retired led to a new interest in mandolin building.
With inspiration from Gibson mandolins of the twenties and some help and encouragement from friend and mentor Lynn Dudenbostel, Will built his first mandolin in 2000 and began building mandolins full time in 2003.
Living in Cincinnati since 2004, Will has built more than 200 mandolin family instruments. When not building mandolins Will stays busy writing songs, singing and playing guitar in the Sternwheelers, and he also restores early Ford transmissions from the flathead V8 era.
