Caleb Klauder

Caleb Klauder has been playing mandolin in the traditional styles of bluegrass and old time fiddle music for over 20 years, and he performs with the Foghorn Stringband. Caleb also fronts his own honky tonk country band, and you can hear him in a duo with Reeb Williams, or collaborating with cajun musicians Joel Savoy and Jesse Lege. Caleb grew up in the Pacific Northwest and carries with him the music traditions that have spread to that region of America over time.

Caleb’s mandolin style most closely resembles old time fiddle playing in a way similar to Bill Monroe’s style. The shuffle of the pick and good left hand technique lend to a clear Old Time Bluegrass sound. Being a fiddler, singer, and guitar player, as well as a mandolin player, Caleb has a well rounded sense of traditional music, both classic Bluegrass and Old Time Fiddle music. As a teacher, Caleb puts focus on the importance of melody, rhythm and timing.

Some of Caleb’s discography consists of: Rattlesnake Tidalwave, Reap What You Sow, Weiser Sunrise, Boombox Square-dance, Outshine the Sun, and Devil in The Seat, with Foghorn Stringband, as well as Time Again with Dirk Powell, Innocent Road, Western Country, Dangerous Mes and Poisonous Yous with the Caleb Klauder Band.
